The year started out well for the CMRRC as we cleared out a lot of material that wasn't going to be used from the layout room. All of the new layout "footprint" has been constructed. The general plan is falling into shape and more track has been put down. We are probably a month or two away from having the mainlines laid. The track will go fairly easy but getting the electrical drops and main buses in will take time due to limited manpower.
On January 24th we plan on removing as much as possible from the storage unit that the club is renting. That includes many 3-drawer storage units with scenery materials in them, many boxes of trees that were taken off the old layout, the popcorn machine and a couple more "under-the-layout" storage units. We hope to clean out the unit but it may take another Saturday to do it.
On membership we have lost a couple of members over the past year and gained a few. Of the twenty-two members we had, eighteen have paid up their dues for 2015 so far. We also have a couple of new possible members that may join early this year.
Our old Lockheed Martin Recreation Association (LMRA), now the Coperate Employee Recreation Association (CERA), has given us a check from the new association as a parting "gift" since they did not have room for our activity on the reduced property/rooms. While it was only a small portion of what our account contained when we had to vacate out old clubroom and property, it is at least something and will go a long way to helping the CMRRC grow. Much appreciation and thanks to member Bob Bray for staying on top of this task and coordinationing all the information back and forth.
